Campground Set

Search Wild Camping or Free Camping Wild camping, or free camping is where you park your vehicle in an acceptable place, such as a beach car park, and camp for free. Camping is perhaps a misleading term. In most countries erecting a tent is not accepted, and you should ensure that all of your things remain in your vehicle. Sitting outside with a table and chairs is fine, as is hanging out your washing. The key thing is to make no noise and mess, leave the spot as you found it. The ups and downs of wild camping Free camping is a great way to reduce your daily costs, by not paying campsite fees. The downside is that you do not have the facilities that the campsite offers.

Take it fishing to rinse mud off your waders. Leave it on the beach to wash off sand after swimming. Warm up after kayaking in cold rapids. Use it to clean dishes while camping. Tip by E ScottD on Step 14 3 days ago Upvote 0 A couple of things, that I can see that would help your project would be to install a ground rod on the generator or the box leading to the generator grounding the circuit. It could preclude instances of getting shocked if touching something energized a hotplate and a device already installed in the home the stove, range hood etc..

Adding a ground rod would help. Also don’t run any high end appliances while on generator unless you keep a close eye on the fuel level. When the generator runs out of fuel, it dosen’t just stop, it runs down. While it is doing this it will decrease the amount of voltage to the house.

What’s it all about? At home we don’t really think much about power sources and capacities – it’s all there ‘on tap’. In our motorhomes things are rather different, we need a portable and reliable heat source source and while you can ‘have a hook-up’ to mains electricity on site, that may not always be convenient. Vehicles normally rely on 12 volt batteries for mobile power but this just isn’t powerful enough for heating. For example if you used your battery to run a small 1kW fire for space heating or the same power ring for cooking it would take 85 amps from your leisure battery which would then last only about half an hour before needing a major recharge!

It’s convenient and very powerful and since it’s stored under pressure as a liquid you get lots of it in a very small space – so it has become the fuel of choice for most motorcaravanners.

Search A Guide to Living in a Camper Van Living in a camper van or motorhome is a cheap and convenient way to see lots of locations. If you are looking to explore in comfort then it is a great option. I lived in my camper van for 9 months, and loved it. My vehicle was a converted small Mercedes Sprinter which I converted into a camper van. I spent almost all of my time free camping, with occasional visits to camp sites when in built up areas, and also in rural areas to refresh water supplies and empty toilets, etc.

I had no problems at all. I know free camping in these areas is more difficult during June, July and August as the police do not like too many people taking up car parks when there are lots of visitors to the beaches. My camper van looked like an ordinary van from the outside, and so did not attract much attention. But, If I were going to spend a lot of time living in a vehicle I would consider buying a motorhome as these are more comfortable.

But a well converted camper van can be just as comfortable. For a long period of time I would suggest that you have a wash room, with a toilet and perhaps a simple shower.

All the batteries we offer are deep cycle and designed for use in solar systems. You will need to decide how much power you need from your inverter, if you are only running a laptop and a couple of small things then you can use a small W inverter, or if you want to run large appliances you want to use larger 3Kw inverter. The Outback and Victron 3Kw inverters can be stacked together to give greater outputs when necessary, including making a 3 phase supply.

If Possible Use the Fuse Panel to Power Your Solenoid Your vehicle should have a fuse panel under the hood or behind a plastic lid under the dashboard.

The male half of the spade terminal will plug right into a vacant fuse slot on most vehicles. The solenoid you buy might have a 4th connection for a ground. Inverters change the 12 V direct current from the batteries to V alternating current AC used by your appliances. Many electrical devices will state they only require watts.

People at campgrounds are some of the friendliest most helpful people you will ever meet. I have seen it time and again when a camper pulls in and they are having problems with something and their next door neighbor, whom they never met, is right there to assist them. I have also observed and assisted several campers who were new to RVing and not really sure how to set their unit up when they arrive at the campground. While talking to these new Rvers it came up more than once how they wished that they had a checklist to follow to make things easier.

I compiled over 25 checklists in an attempt to cover all aspects of RVing. This is an excerpt from the book to assist new campers when they arrive at the campground.

And frankly, they can be bewildering. Not only that, with prices ranging from tens of pounds to hundreds of pounds, you want to get your choice right. First of all, a quick summary of the types of cooler and fridge out there. Then, a list of the questions you need to ask yourself to draw up your shortlist.

Trailer Wiring, Plugs & Sockets Trailer wiring and harness plugs are available in a variety of sizes and configurations. The most basic of designs is the color coded 4-WIRE system which uses a brown wire for tail, license, and side marker lights, yellow wire for left hand stop and turn, green wire for right hand stop and turn, and white wire.

Polk Somebody recently asked me what I enjoyed the most about RVing. It didn’t take long for me to respond that it was the people you meet at the campground. I don’t know of anywhere else that you can meet complete strangers and within a couple of hours feel as if you’ve known them forever. However most RVs do have many things in common and that is what we will concentrate on. The purpose of this checklist is to provide a basic system of what to do when you arrive at your site. Use only the items that apply to your RV and feel free to tailor the list to your needs.
